THE RIGHT ALLIANCE
The History of The Organization
The Right Alliance was founded at the beginning of 2004 as an organization, uniting Belarusian patriotic youth initiatives. As of today it has representatives in all the regions of the country.
During its existence The Right Alliance has conducted dozens of actions and campaigns of national democratic, civil and social orientation: the Antimak (Antipoppy) campaign (antimak.info) – in support of prohibition of selling opium containing poppy seeds and other drug substances; the Southwest initiative (pzminsk.org) in support of increasing local self-government as well as youth conferences, seminars, summer camps. The Right Alliance organizes on a regular basis actions, celebrating the national history and heroes of Belarus (K. Kalinouski, father Vincent Hadleuski and others).
During 2004 – 2008 the organization was cooperating with the right spectrum of the Belarusian democratic opposition. It took part in organizing the First Congress of Democratic Forces in October 2005, especially taking responsibility for the security during the congress. During the Presidential Elections in 2006 members of the Right Alliance, besides informational and canvassing activities for the candidate, were responsible for security of Mr. Alexander Milinkevich. They were among the organizers of the Belarusian European Forum on 14.11.2009 (euraforum.info)
During local elections in 2007 12 members of the Alliance have taken part as candidates for deputy (4 of them in the capital). Due to the election fraud none of them had any chances to become a deputy.
In 2008 elections to the Chamber of Representatives three members of the organization took part as candidates in Minsk, Salihorsk and Lida.
10 members of the Alliance take part as candidates in the current 2010 municipal elections: 5 in Minsk, 2 in Minsk oblast, 1 in Lida, Hrodna and Vitebsk.
The organization has a strong relationship with the Movement «For Freedom” of Alexander Milinkevich, The Party of Belarusian Popular Front (The PBPF), the organizational committee of the Belarusian Christian Democracy (The BCD), the Youth Front and other organizations as well as political right organizations of Ukraine, Poland, Russia, Latvia.
On 15 June 2009 the organization has been officially registered as an institution «The Right Alliance» (not as a political organization).
Objectives
The objectives of the RA include assistance in building a law-based, sovereign state, defending the rights of citizens of the Republic of Belarus and Belarusians living abroad, developing the national culture, education, promoting a healthy lifestyle, democratic and patriotic ideas in Belarusian society.
Tasks
* assistance in defending independence and sovereignty of the Republic of Belarus, increasing the country`s international prestige;
* help and assistance to the state and civil agencies in creation of the Belarusian state;
* realization of cultural and educational activities;
* promotion of a healthy lifestyle and support of sports;
* realization of the effective youth policy, support of active and talented youth in its activities, useful for society;
* development and promotion of tourism in Belarus as a means, helping people to live in harmony with the environment.
* Promotion of democratic and all-European values.
The RA also includes into its main tasks finding and involving in its activities the future elite, willing and able to work for a free, independent and successful Belarus.
Organization`s Values:
The Organization holds right conservative views, it is committed to traditional values and supports development of democracy, national revival, freedom of thought and opposes all forms of dictatorship and authoritarian government.
The RA positions itself as a conservative organization in the political spectrum of Belarus.
The membership age in the Right Alliance is 16 – 40 years.
The number of the RA`s members – 300.
Participation in Belarusian coalitions: the BIB – the Belarusian Independence Bloc – one of the founding organizations; The Youth coalition “New Generation” – one of the founding organizations.
